![]() ![]() Unfortunately you don't have anything to decompress the file on the PC you are using. You've been sent a compressed file by email and want to see what's inside it. It can also be used to create good, random passwords. PasswordSafe is a simple yet secure password storage utility that can be used to organize all your user names and passwords. Without a doubt, the best password storage utility that I've come across is called PasswordSafe. Everything I need to access my data and even send and receive email is stored on the USB drive. On top of that, DmailerSync Plus also allows me to create a copy of my Internet Explorer and Firefox favorites and also any files that I select and take these with me too. However, I have found a great software utility called DmailerSync Plus which allows me to clone my Outlook data (emails, contacts, tasks and so on) and access them from the USB drive. My main email client is Microsoft Outlook, so there's no chance of installing that onto a USB flash drive and making it portable. OK, so you have your flash drive, what applications can you load onto it? There are plenty to choose from! I like this drive because everything I load onto it is password protected and encrypted using 128-bit hardware-based AES encryption. My current flash drive of choice is a 2GB Kingston Data Traveler Elite Privacy Edition. ![]() This allows you to have plenty of storage space for applications while leaving you with enough space for files and backups. You can probably get away with using a 512MB drive but I think that 1GB is better, while 2GB is ideal. The more capacity you have the better, really. ![]() For all I know it might suck big time. The first thing that you need is a USB flash drive that has decent capacity. ![]() Is it possible that worker is hard wired to use xfree86-base and will not accept the virtual packages as being valid?Īre there other file managers out there that I could try? I don't even know worker. I checked dselect and gtk+ is listed under the installed packages. Gtk+ is working because I am using GIMP successfully. I'm also using MacGIMP (installed separately but upgraded through fink) until the Cocoa version is available. I'm using XAbiword until the Cocoa version of AbiWord is finished. In any case, once you launch AbiWord it is not the "real" X thing (as id OSX), but it is the "real" X thing as if XFree86. However, for some reasons I can't use these with FruitMenu. It will also give you icons you can doubleclick on to launch apps. OroborOSX will launch (and quit) XDarwin and give you a cocoa menu to launch other UNIX apps. The first time I installed Darwin, I closed all of the windows and could not figure out how to launch apps. If you install abiword through fink, you can still use OroborOSX to launch abiword (and other UNIX apps) from the Launch menu in the MacOSX menubar. When you click on the Xabiword application, you'll notice that it shows up on the dock and promptly quits. To use Xabiword, you have to have XDarwin running (I would highly recommend OroborOSX to compliment XDarwin). I believe the only difference is that this has a Cocoa application which launches the standard abiword UNIX app. There's a lot more stuff available that way.Īs for abiword, I actually installed XAbiword. Kgianno - yes, I used the instructions to get fink to list unstable packages. ![]()
